Slow release pH buffering granules keep pond water at optimum alkalinity and hardness for healthy aquatic life. The balance and relationship between ponds Hardness, Alkalinity and pH is complex and intricate so we will keep it simple. pH is a measure of the water relative acidity, simply put pH 7 is neutral, above 7 is alkaline and below 7 is acidic.
Alkalinity can be thought of as the ability of a solution to resist a pH change with the addition of an acid. This is connected to the General hardness of the water which is the concentration of dissolved calcium and magnesium ions in the water.
Biological processes that form acidic compounds will cause pond alkalinity to naturally decrease over time. Ponds with fibreglass construction or vinyl pond liners tend to decrease in alkalinity more quickly and therefore need supplementation to maintain optimum alkalinity.
1 kg of Hydra pH Buffer treats up to 1,000 litres of water.
5 kg of Hydra pH Buffer treats up to 5,000 litres of water.
20 kg of Hydra pH Buffer treats up to 20,000 litres of water.
Safely raises and maintains pond pH level
Slowly releases a pH buffering solution into the pond water to help keep it in balance for GH General Hardness and KH Carbonate Hardness
Rain in today’s global warming climatic conditions contains large amounts of CO² which is acidic and can thus lower the alkalinity of your pond water
Ideal if you live in a soft water area
Shelf life 3 years, 1 kilo treats up to 1,000 litres
