Pro Shrimp’s comment: Anubias are great plants especially for low tech tanks. They are happy with low light and fertilisation and very robust. It’s advisable to keep them in a slightly shady area of the tank to avoid algae growth on the leaves. Good flow nearby will further reduce this risk. For a long time there is a myth going around that anubias (when pruned or cut) would be poisonous to shrimp and other inverts. This is NOT true and anubias are perfect plants for your shrimp tank and 100% safe. Snails: Dennerle is a plant grower that does not use pesticides. We try to keep our plants snail free as much as possible, but we cannot guarantee these plants to be 100% snail free. If you are looking for 100% snail and algae free plants, we would suggest the Dennerle Plant It invitro plants, which are grown in a laboratory environment and then sealed. The ‘Pinto’ Anubias is a quirk of nature that has been propagated from a normal green population using selection. The light green variegation can be more or less pronounced, so only the most beautiful plants are propagated further in the production plant. This variety is very slow-growing and requires more light than the original green form. Due to its small size, the ‘Pinto’ makes an attractive addition to Nano Cubes and can also be used to catch the eye in aquascaping. This new plant creates excellent contrast on black lava rock and on dark coloured roots.
